The term of protection for a design is 10 years which can be further renewed for a period of 5 years. Choosing the correct class to secure design protection of the widest amplitude is critical. The classification of goods which can be the subject matter of design protection is governed by The Locarno Classification, an international classification used for the purposes of the registration of industrial designs.
